I have tried windows defender, malwarebytes (+ their adw version), hitman, rkill, AVG (including its "pre-windows-bootup-scan") and have performed lengthy scans with all of them, removing all threats detected. There were no recently installed programs for me to uninstall. Every time I make a search up in the searchbox on google chrome, I get redirected to a search60.com search engine that searches the same thing. I have checked all of my extensions and they are fine, no additional unknown ones, additionally I have performed a reset of chrome settings along with the chrome-fix app, with of course just a full uninstall and reinstall of chrome. I have tried dancing around in regedit altering stuff with different guides online. I am out of options, I usually can figure these things out but I need help. I was watching Ice Poseidon's charturbate video on PornHub earlier today. I wanted to skip to a good part so I clicked on the spot on the progress bar I wanted to go. A blank tab titled about opened and I immediately closed it. I then checked and closed a popup pornhub ad that appeared. Could my PC have been infected? I made this post which details the issues I've been having. tl;dr my hard drive seems to have some sort of corruption due to removing a Windows partition from my MacBook. I wasn't able to solve my problem through anything I tried so I made a back up and erased my Mac HD using Disk Utility in Recovery Mode. Now when I turn on the computer I get the option to restore my MacBook from a Time Machine backup which I have on an external drive. However, each time I do this I get some sort of error and have to restart the laptop. I guess at this point there must actually be something wrong with the computer's SSD and it wasn't a software issue like I thought before. If I watch a video on my second screen while playing certain games, the audio increasingly desyncs from the video, at about 0,5 seconds lag per 10 minutes. This happens with streaming videos in browser, as well as with local files in WMP and MP-HC. Thing is, it only happens with certain games (Shadow of War and Warhammer Total War 2) and not at all with others (Assassin's Creed Origins and Just Cause 3). OK so I just got done with my first pc build. Took me hours but I think I dealt with the majority of the troubleshooting. So my current problem is that the pc boots up, motherboard lights come on when i turn on PSU, cpu fan and extra fans all turn on and stay on. GPU fan turns on initially and then stops after around 15 seconds. I have checked all power inputs, taking them out and replacing them ensuring that they are in the correct place and inserted properly. Kinda stuck for further troubleshooting as I'm a bit of a noob to this, the motherboard LEDs are on so I assume it is receiving power, i don't know how i'd go about checking if the CPU is working.. I have been struggling with this issue for a while now. If I want to download something, I can't anymore because it says I'm out of memory. I go into look at how much memory I have left on the internal storage, and it says none, like I thought but what was interesting was that I'm only using 6.68 GB for apps, .1 for photos and nothing else. Hello I am looking for some advice. Last night I was watching a movie that I could not find on Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime. (Good Will Hunting if you care). I ended up finding a stream on 123Hulu. I tried to make the title as descriptive as possible. My laptop (Dell XPS 13, running window's 10), seem to have massive issues with most video streaming websites. Where streaming Lectures and Netflix works a treat, but youtube, Gifs, Tumblr, and most other hosting website wont even load their homepages and when they do I might have to wait 20minutes to watch a 3 minute video. Hey r/techsupport , I have been experimenting with a bunch of browsers for quite a while. I have been switching between opera, microsoft edge, and chrome for the past few months and am trying to make up my mind on which one to use primarily. I loved using chrome on my older MacBook Pro because of the nice, smooth scrolling. When I upgraded to a dell xps 15 the scrolling in chrome compared to microsoft edge had a noticeable difference because of issues with microsoft's precision touchpads. Microsoft edge feels super fast and has almost instant response. I have researched this all over the internet and cannot come to a conclusion as to why chrome has this atrocious scrolling on a windows precision touchpad compared to a mac touchpad. I know windows touchpads aren't that good but that doesn't explain why edge is so responsive. Hey, as of today my trust Headset, isnt as trusty anymore. When I activated it this morning, everything worked fine, but after ~30-60 minutes, it desynced. Sometimes it resyncs after 5-10minutes for a short while (sub 20sec) sometimes it doesnt. I removed the battery and also all connections to the transmitter, waited for 15min and put everything back together, and it worked for a couple minutes, than same thing. I tried to follow the instructions to manually sync but even if that worked (As I said it starts to work randomly, so i cant be sure that did it) only for a short while. My Transmitter is blinking like once a second, and the headphones are like 4sec light on, 1sec light off. Any ideas? Im using Windows 10 if that plays any role. Unmounting the sd card and letting the storage refresh shows more sensical numbers. Mounting sd card makes it do this again. Hey guys. Yesterday I noticed that if I really max out a game, I only get 30fps, with 30-40% GPU utilization. I'm sure it's not a CPU bottleneck, cause the CPU is only utilized at 10-20%. I changed the Nvidia power setting to "prefer maximum performance" (it was on optimal), and it got even weirder. Without doing anything really, my GPU's clockspeed is high, so is the temperatures. So I have a piece of software that is running on a server, and this has a parellel port activation / security dongle to allow paid features. I have since virtualised this server to running on ESXi, but its new home has no parallel port. After phoning support people (who frankly didn't seem to understand what I meant when I said server) they said to pick up a USB/Parallel converter, which I was skeptical about but have done. Plugging in from the box hasn't worked, and my current logic is that it being a legacy piece of software is only checking LPT1 (which of course doesn't exist). Is there a way to cast this USB dongle to the LPT1 port? It appears in device manager as a USB device. Most of what I've searched is about getting a network printer to work and hasn't worked for me. Alright, so 2 nights ago there was a pretty big storm around here. The morning after that, I had internet until like 9 am, than it was gone. Now that usually happens, cause my internet provider is a trashy family company, so I didn't think much of it, I was hoping they'd fix it by the afternoon. Hi, I have an old pc with Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 and a 2x4gb DDR3 My pc is randomly freezing but just before it there is some distortion in the screen like this for few seconds and it just freezes completely, no beep sound, no input feedback, no increase/decrease of fan speed, nothing shows in the screen except the freezing, no click or weird sound in HDD, also no blinking from HDD light and it still freeze like hours by letting it just to see if it's go away. Hello, I've recently installed a new GPU: Sapphire Pule Radeon RX 550 4GB. After havng some trouble with the system not recognizing the card and drivers not installing, i uninstalled all display drivers with DDU. After this, installing the drivers worked fine. Now the problem is that i can't launch any of the games on my system. This includes old and new titles on steam such as TF2 and XCOM2, aswell as all Battle.net applications and Minecraft. Ok so here's the deal. My workplace has free wifi but it kinda sucks but my boss let me install my own router so i could get a better internet connection in my office. I bought a Linksys WRT 1900ACS and connected it to the switch near my office and the router works since i can connect to it and am able to get a good internet connection, but the problem is that i can't for the life of me access the setting of this router. 192.168.1.1 or the linksys smart wifi page doesn't work either (i can log in but it tells me to install some firmware but i can't install the firmware since i can't access the router). Now i tried some troubleshooting on my own and wasn't successful and even the Linksys tech support were kind of lost... Connecting directly to the switch does not work as i cannot get a internet connection from it for some reason but once i connect the router to the switch and connect to the router it magically works. So I'm trying to install the KB958830 so I have access to the RSAT. So I try to install this and then it asks for a reboot, so I do this. While rebooting it says "configuring windows updates..." and then it shuts down, it starts again. Still "configuring windows updates". After a while it says "Failure to configur windows updates, reverting changes" and it never installed. When looking in the event viewer it says: Package KB958830 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x80070005. Which is like an access denied thing. I'm probably overlooking something obvious, but I can't see it. Hello techsupport, first time here. My PC specs are as the following: -Ryzen 1600 OC'ed to 3.8ghz -RX 580 -16gb RAM clocked at 2933mhz When I play games (really any game installed on my computer), the game and the whole computer will occasionally freeze up (usually once a session). Temperatures seem to be fine according to Afterburner as I play, and it happens for every game (League of Legends, PUBG, Mount and Blade, etc). When this happens, I can't alt-tab or anything and I can often still hear sound. The only way to get out of the freeze is to ctrl-alt-delete and sign out or restart my computer. To counteract this, I have been leaving a word file open so that when I press sign out, it will stop a full sign out because of the save prompt. I am not sure what is going on, the OC seems to be stable since the computer doesn't shut down outright, perhaps in the RAM? But even if its RAM I'd assume it would still shut down completely. Windows 10 64bit. i5. 8 GB RAM. I use this computer as a Plex server, so it's on 24/7. But once a week, usually on Thursdays, it completely blows out the internet in my apartment. As in, no device will connect either wirelessly or over LAN. When I turn off the computer, everything goes back to normal... until a week later, when it happens all over again. This weekend was the final straw as it blew out on the first day of a long weekend vacation, and of course the only way to fix it would have been to drive back eight hours to turn it off and on again. We use DisplayLink docking stations. Typically a user will have their laptop open, press power ON / wakeup, connect the DisplayLink docking station and laptop power, then shut the laptop to use two primary larger monitors. I have configured Power Options to leave the laptop powered on when AC power is connected. When it's not connected, it's set to sleep. The problem I seem to be running into is once AC power is removed from the laptop once it's already shut and connected to USB DisplayLink docking station... it won't recognize this and never sleep. All displays from the docking station continue to work on laptop battery power. I'm concerned that users won't manually put the computer to sleep, unplug the power and docking station at end of day, and have a dead battery and extremely hot laptop when they power it back up at home. Yesterday our wifi extender went down and now the extension network has disappeared.. people in the home have speculated it's gone back to its original settings and original password but they don't know what that is.. Recently, I began the conversion of my house to a smart home with different things, such as wifi controlled lights, outlets, etc. 7 devices are constantly connected at all times, while all of the high end / high speed devices are connected to the 5GHz channel. When people come over, they connect to whatever channel seems to be available on their device. For some reason, even though a max of roughly 10 devices are connected on the 2.4 GHz channel, it speed tests around 0.65 mbps. Even if some device was limiting the router to G speeds, there is no reason the router should be this slow. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this may be? I am currently using a Linksys WRT1200AC with stock firmware, and the channel is set up to be the least crowded one in the area. The router is also connected to 600/50 internet, and the speedtests were being done in the same room as the router. Thanks! Yesterday I was heavy using my MSI laptop, I do not remember the model number I know I has a Core I7 with 16 gig ram, a 256 SSD, 1TB HDD, Nvidia GTX 1060. I was playing final Fantasy xiv, Encoding a video and burning it with DVDstyler, and transferring video video from an Iphone to the computer. Hey guys, first post here. I appreciate any help. Ive got a Dell inspiron laptop 7567 w/ a GTX 1050 ti, i5-7300HQ, 8 GB RAM on Windows 10 and have been trying to boot up Wolfenstein 2 the new colossus. But every time I do so, my laptop's screen drops in resolution and then when I go into the game's settings to change the graphics options, it won't go up to 1080p. Every time i close the game, the resolution goes back to the original 1080p. My laptop is a 1920x1080 screen and my GPU is definitely good enough to run this game at 1080p so I dont know what the issue is. Hey, so i have the Maximus VII Ranger motherboard and i had had problems with my Ram Sticks ( i had 2x 8gb ram stickes sticked into both red slots) since it only showed 4 GB on my system i pulled them out and swapped places of them just to try it out, maybe they were not correctly in the slots. Now i try to boot my pc and my motherboard shows the errorcode FE. I assumed it is because i changed the slots so i put them back in the origional places, i still get the error code FE. Hi all. Last night I was on my PC and shut it off normally before I went to bed. When I went to turn it on this morning, the computer failed to start. Usually when I turn on the computer the lights on my keyboard and mouse turn on briefly after a second or two. However now they turn on for a second or two as soon as I press the power button. The monitor would usually then display a splash screen however now it doesn't turn on at all. I decided to restart it, and it worked for about 30 minutes. At this point it didn't bluescreen, but had columns of brown all the way down. The audio from the video I was watching continued for about 4 seconds before it stopped playing. As probably, obviously deduced, I've just received a blue screen followed by, "were sorry.... machine check exception". I was mining on the side (as a bit of a test hobby) as I have been doing for about a month now, overnight when it happened. My machine boots into Bios fine and stays running and temps are low. Did a bios flash and still getting machine check exception. I have a GTX 1080 and i7 7700k. My PC is less than a year old, and it was running fine last night, but this morning after I woke up I started playing a game only to see that I had 5 FPS on it and I could barely look around since it was stuttering so much. Since then, I've formatted Windows 10 fully to make sure it wasn't malware and also ran chkdsk and scandisk to check for hard drive errors. The results came back fine. I barely got around to installing my GPU drivers and stuff since Microsoft Edge was too laggy. System settings wouldn't open for a bit, and then the GPU driver installation took like 40 minutes, instead of 5 minutes like it used to. My roommate decided to go out and buy a WiFi extender because he "doesn't get good enough WiFi in his room." Coincidentally, our original WiFi network seems to get much worse whenever it is plugged in. I had 4 buddies over for a fantasy football draft at the start of September, and our internet straight up was not working until I finally unplugged his extender, at which point it began to work perfectly again. Every once in a while, our internet will slow to a crawl, and it is usually fixed by unplugging his extender. Could this extender be the problem, or am I just imagining it? We also live in a house with 5 other guys, so maybe that contributes to it? He is very stubborn so I'd have to provide him with an exact technical reason why he can't keep his extender. Hello, forgive me if this isn't the right subreddit to request help on this subject. My girlfriend dropped her phone in water and it was submerged for about 2-3 seconds. Her screen is blank and she cannot power on the phone. There is no charge indicator when she tried to charge it. So I’ll try to make this concise. I’m not great with dealing with wireless connections, and have always had my own router through a leased modem. My new apartment complex off-campus has a system through a company called Korcett where to connect to WiFi, you enter the device’s wireless MAC address on your Korcett account, then it allows access to the connection to that device. The max speed they have is 10 mbps upload/download, which is the first problem. My 2 roommates being on their phones at all or anything on the WiFi renders Xbox Live almost useless and down to 2-3 Mpbs. So basically, in school (business/management class [college]) I was assigned a non-profit, and was asked to help them solve a problem with my team. The problem they had was that they were unable to keep track of their members effectively. So, with the lack of a technical background we have decided to do a membership card in which they can scan in. So, I've had this mouse for years, and have never had any problems until now. About a month ago, I noticed that on my laptop, certain keys would sometimes not work. These keys were c, f, r, backspace, 0, 8, and 9. I just ignored it at the time, but, now the same keys don't work at all. I have a feeling it's my mouse, because I plugged it into my desktop a few days ago and then keys on that keyboard instantly stopped working as well. T, C, 4, and a few others that I don't remember. Additionally, even when the mouse is removed the same keys STILL don't work. I've also already tried uninstalling/reinstalling keyboard/mouse drivers, along with unplugging the mouse and THEN uninstalling/reinstalling keyboard/mouse drivers. I'm certain this is a driver issue despite the above not working. This has bothered me for quite some time now and I haven't found a solution. I've searched the internet plenty of times with no luck. I have three monitors. One 16:9 main monitor, a 21:9 monitor above it and a TV on the side which is off most of the time. I like to have apps such as Discord and battlenet/steam friends up on my 21:9 monitor, but when I shut my computer the windows spreads out all over the place. I have to use windows+shift+arrow to move my windows from my TV (which is off) to my 21:9 or rescale the windows that tend to become huge and pixellated. I am so tired of having to adjust all the windows every time I boot up my computer. If there's a solution to this, please let me know. I've got a Dell XPS Windows 7 64 bit PC that I've been poking at for the last week. It came to me because the user couldn't get a network connection, and neither can I. It has both an Ethernet connection and a built in wifi antenna on the board. Neither work, even after uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers from the manufacturer's site. I've also tried a USB wifi adapter, but same story. So, my next thought is that there's a windows service that's failing to start. I run a sfc, everything passes. I do a disk check, everything is happy. Still no connection, so I try a system restore. It fails. I run a system refresh from a windows 7 disk, and it's hanging at the welcome screen. I recently built my first PC, and it turns on, things work, however when I try to play a game the frame rate must be in the single digits. I can see my graphics card (1080ti) in device manager and have uninstalled the drivers, restarted the computer and done varies other stuff the internet told me to do for the last couple of days. Hi, Hoping someone can help out, I've trawled the internet and I'm not finding the solution. I'm quite experienced with hardware and software but I've been away from Windows for a long time and I'm really struggling. I've got a HP Elitebook 745 G2. I believe it was originally installed with Windows 7 but the HD failed and I've just installed a brand new SSD. I've created a Windows 10 USB boot disk (a few different ways, but essentially with the ISO from MS). After a massive mess around trying to find the right BIOS options (USB3 / Legacy / UEFI / CSM etc) I've managed to get a USB stick booting, I get to the first screen which asks me to 'install windows 10', then I get a prompt suggesting that it doesn't have the relevant drivers it needs. I've tried downloading the HP SoftPaq for this model for Windows 10 and extracting it to a second USB stick, the only 'installable' driver appears to be in the 'Realtek' folde...

Hello, I own an ASUS Q302LA (as mentioned above), and today, while I was using it, the computer suddenly blacked out on me. No lights, nothing. I've tried plugging in the charger and nothing charges at all. I may be overthinking it, but could it just be the need of a battery replacement? Last fall I bought an MSI gaming laptop with a GTX 1060. I used it mainly for playing overwatch, Rocksmith and league of legends. I hardly do anything else with it aside from YouTube videos but these days when in play a game, it gets so hot it's actually uncomfortable to touch. I have my graphics set to the same it was a year ago and my fans set to cooler booster but it's 30° hotter than it was a year ago. Even rebooting and closing all programs before playing doesn't keep it cool. I just want to play Overwatch again without fearing for my computers life. With MSI Afterburner you can set a value in ms for how long the program will wait when the temperature rises before updating the fan speed. (see here) I'm looking for a program/bios setting/hard coded way of doing the same thing with my cpu, as I'm noticing when my cpu temp spikes above the threshold it'll ramp up, causing my cpu to be annoyingly loud when the fans rev up from 20%-40%. Last week I formatted my PC, prior to that the game was running perfectly on maximum settings. After formatting I started experiencing some fps drop, from 60fps to 27fps. I changed all my settings to low/off but the issue persisted. Then I uninstalled the video driver, installed again but nothing changed. Ran CCleaner, CHKDSK, reset my FFXIV settings on the launcher menu and the issue didn't happen anymore. Today, tired of seeing GeForce Experience in-game overlay message on my screen every time I started the game, I decided to turn it off. As a disclaimer, I realize there is a lot of information about how to upgrade with and SSD,. It cannot find anything specific to my problem. My problem is not the installation of the SSD, that's easy, I also know how create a media etc. I just bought a 500gb SSD, hoping to use it as a boot drive to replace my 5(ish) year old slow 1tb harddrive. What I'm curious about is can I simply just create a boot drive with a USB, install a new version of Windows on to the SSD and boot form there? And than I will still have all of my files I assume, but will I have to re install drivers and whatnot or can it still use the drivers from the hdd? In the last week my computer has drastically slowed down, games that I could run with no issues on ultra are crashing when on low, and doing simple things like opening folders can cause my PC to freeze. Went to boot up the laptop today, and the screen displays this . It hasn't had any problem like this before. The laptop did suffer a minor drop about a month ago, but it's been working fine since then with daily use. I just got a memory management bsod and it was stuck on boot. I restarted my PC and it turns off and shuts down and starts back up again. I probably already know the answer to this, but I was just wanting to see if anyone else has had some personal experience with this. Basically, I bought a secondhand H100i V2 and it worked perfectly for a few months and all of a sudden today the fans rev up like crazy on the radiator and my computer says CPU temps are hitting 85C, so I quickly shut my computer off. After a few hours I unplugged the computer and unplugged the power cable from the H100 out of the PSU to see if it could power cycle it or something. If it's worth mentioning, earlier only ONE of the tubes was hot to the touch, the other was cold (or normal temp). Hi guys so as stated above I noticed a couple days ago when I got back from work my PC wouldnt wake up from sleep, I moved the mouse and I saw the light on the PC go on however nothing from the monitor, just stayed black. After restarting the PC I get the Mobo splash screen and the windows loading screen, shortly after that instead of loading my desktop the screen goes black, and the monitor switches off a few seconds later as no signal. This happened again this morning when I got home, I am usually able to get back into windows after a couple of restarts but obviously not a fix and there is something going on in the background.
