I have tried the stickey'd malware removal tips and still for the life of me cannot remove this malware.

I have tried windows defender, malwarebytes (+ their adw version), hitman, rkill, AVG (including its "pre-windows-bootup-scan") and have performed lengthy scans with all of them, removing all threats detected. There were no recently installed programs for me to uninstall. Every time I make a search up in the searchbox on google chrome, I get redirected to a search60.com search engine that searches the same thing. I have checked all of my extensions and they are fine, no additional unknown ones, additionally I have performed a reset of chrome settings along with the chrome-fix app, with of course just a full uninstall and reinstall of chrome. I have tried dancing around in regedit altering stuff with different guides online. I am out of options, I usually can figure these things out but I need help. FYI at one point a Trojan:Win32\Wonknod.A showed up on a scanner, and it could only be "partially removed" if that helps.

Pornhub malware? Need help

I was watching Ice Poseidon's charturbate video on PornHub earlier today. I wanted to skip to a good part so I clicked on the spot on the progress bar I wanted to go. A blank tab titled about opened and I immediately closed it. I then checked and closed a popup pornhub ad that appeared. Could my PC have been infected? I was on an incognito chrome tab in Windows 10. I usually switch to Ubuntu for payments and store all my passwords and credit card info there. Please help ASAP.

Description of problem

After upgrading from my GTX 770 to my RX 580, I have been having multiple issues. Previously, I was my 770 had 2 DVI ports on the back, which I was using with both of my monitors. My other monitor is not listed (BENQ XL2411Z) because this leads to my first issue. The RX 580 has 1 DVI port, 2 HDMI and 2 DP. The XL2411z can only do either HDMI or DVI, but I want to use the 144hz refresh rate, so i have to use the DVI connection. I didn't think this would be an issue, so I was just using either an HDMI or DP cable for my other monitor, because I didn't care about the refresh rate as much, as it is just my second monitor for web browsing and such while gaming. My issue here is that when I am connected this way, my DVI-connected monitor will start to turn on and off, saying "No cable detected" and constantly cause my windows to go back and forth between monitors until I unplug that monitor.Second issue is I seem to get completely random crashes while gaming, most notably in R6: Siege, where as soon as a match starts, my game crashes. I also crashed a few times loading TW:W2, and have had some strange graphical bugs in Destiny 2 and Shadow of Mordor, to the point that I had to restart the game because I couldn't see. I have uninstalled all previous graphics drivers, and even wiped my computer in an attempt to fix these issues, and have yet to find something that works. I have even tried just going HDMI with both monitors to no avail (however I don't want this to work anyway because it defeats the point of having a 144hz monitor), and finally I have tried just using one monitor, but that isn't really a fix either. I apologize if this post is somewhat all over the place, but I don't know what else to try and I haven't found a similar issue to mine through research. I also should have realized that the Newegg warranty for this card is replacement only, and is coming up soon, so if it sounds like the card itself is just faulty I would try to return it.

[Mac] Trying to restore my Mac from a Time Machine backup but I keep getting an error

I made this post which details the issues I've been having. tl;dr my hard drive seems to have some sort of corruption due to removing a Windows partition from my MacBook.

I wasn't able to solve my problem through anything I tried so I made a back up and erased my Mac HD using Disk Utility in Recovery Mode. Now when I turn on the computer I get the option to restore my MacBook from a Time Machine backup which I have on an external drive. However, each time I do this I get some sort of error and have to restart the laptop.

I guess at this point there must actually be something wrong with the computer's SSD and it wasn't a software issue like I thought before. Is it possible that something is wrong with the backup and not the drive? Any suggestions?

I cannot pinpoint the issue, I've tried running things with as few programs open as possible to try and pin point the issue but it still occurs. I'm not sure what a lot of the processes shown in Performance Monitor might mean, but I've tried testing my GPU using Furmark and monitoring CPU temps and neither seem to show any issues. I've also tried testing my hard drives using SeaTools to try and find any faults there and have gotten none. I tested the RAM about 2 months ago (same day I put the PC together) using Windows and came back with no issues, so now I turn to you /r/techsupport and hope you can help me solve this issue so I can enjoy the rig I bought to it's fullest.

BSoD while playing CSGO and Destiny 2

I just built a new PC and I am getting BSoD crashes all the time in CSGO and about once an hour in Destiny 2.

Build: - X299 AORUS Ultra Gaming Motherboard - Intel core i7-7820X - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo - GTX 1080 Ti AORUS waterforce Xtreme Edition - Samsung 960 EVO 500GB - Team Elite Plus 16GB DDR4 RAM - EVGA SuperNOVA 750

After the first couple crashes I downloaded BlueScreenView and found that the crashes are always because of the hal.dll driver. I found that it was the Hardware Abstraction Layer so I thought maybe it was a problem with thermals. I downloaded CPUID Hardware Monitor and played both CSGO and Destiny 2 to see if any of my parts were getting too hot but none of them were getting very hot. After that I thought to try updating my drivers and my BIOS but there was no change after trying both.

I don't know what else to try and I don't want to resort to taking it to a computer repair place, I'd rather fix it myself and not need to pay someone else to do it.

Increasing audio lag in videos while in-game

If I watch a video on my second screen while playing certain games, the audio increasingly desyncs from the video, at about 0,5 seconds lag per 10 minutes. This happens with streaming videos in browser, as well as with local files in WMP and MP-HC. Thing is, it only happens with certain games (Shadow of War and Warhammer Total War 2) and not at all with others (Assassin's Creed Origins and Just Cause 3). I'm completely at my wits' end at this point, so I'd be grateful for any ideas.

My pc is a i5-7660k, 16GB RAM, GTX1070, SSD and conventional HDD, Windows 10. I have tried the following to fix this:

• completely un- and reinstall graphics driver, with and without GeForce Experience
• adjust process priority in task manager up or down
• disabled and enabled hardware acceleration in Chrome settings
• moved affected games to another HDD
• updated chipset driver
• updated audio driver
• deleted games and any related folders
• tried every Windows power management setting
• turning ingame settings to minimum

None of these had even an incremental effect on the lag. It also persisted through the Fall Creator's Update. Please, if anyone has any ideas, share. It's driving me up the wall.

Newly built pc, MB LEDs on, fans working, but no display or indication of bootup.

OK so I just got done with my first pc build. Took me hours but I think I dealt with the majority of the troubleshooting. So my current problem is that the pc boots up, motherboard lights come on when i turn on PSU, cpu fan and extra fans all turn on and stay on. GPU fan turns on initially and then stops after around 15 seconds. I have checked all power inputs, taking them out and replacing them ensuring that they are in the correct place and inserted properly. Kinda stuck for further troubleshooting as I'm a bit of a noob to this, the motherboard LEDs are on so I assume it is receiving power, i don't know how i'd go about checking if the CPU is working.. Any help is hugely appreciated, PC specs are below

Droid Moto Turbo 2 Memory Issue

I have been struggling with this issue for a while now. If I want to download something, I can't anymore because it says I'm out of memory. I go into look at how much memory I have left on the internal storage, and it says none, like I thought but what was interesting was that I'm only using 6.68 GB for apps, .1 for photos and nothing else. It is a 32 GB phone with only 8 GB of space occupied by the OS. What is wrong with this and how do I fix it before I test how "unbreakable" this phone really is. Thank you so much!

Phone Number Leaked on Video Streaming Site

Hello I am looking for some advice.

Last night I was watching a movie that I could not find on Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime. (Good Will Hunting if you care).

I ended up finding a stream on 123Hulu. Someone on reddit said it was a good site. Thanks man...

I was using my iPhone 6s with ios11. I was also behind my VPN through PIA. Using safari in incognito.

After the movie was over I noticed I had some strange text messages with some weird links. I just deleted the messages and did not click on the links.

I also got an IRS "You owe the government money" scam call today.

I did a quick good search and found that your phone number can be leaked when going to a website? Is that possible even behind a VPN?

What should my next steps be? Should I be worried at all?

Inconsistent web-browsing speed over multiple WiFi connections

I tried to make the title as descriptive as possible. My laptop (Dell XPS 13, running window's 10), seem to have massive issues with most video streaming websites. Where streaming Lectures and Netflix works a treat, but youtube, Gifs, Tumblr, and most other hosting website wont even load their homepages and when they do I might have to wait 20minutes to watch a 3 minute video. I have tried: changing from chrome, changing WiFi (and hosting off my phone), uninstalling all extensions and all background programs. nothing seems to have worked. I am honestly stumped I thought I was being paranoid at the beginning though now when even searching things in google I am seeing a delay that isn't very representative of my internet speed. please send help, this is torture.

Description of problem

When running multiple instances of a game, namely EVE Online, my screens will freeze. Mostly this will happen when Aero styled windows features like alt tabbing or preview when mouseover the taskbar and it will also not always do it. Altering settings to run at all low for least performance impact makes no difference. This also happens when I try to run other games like WoW in conjunction with EVE but in instances like this, it only seems to be when I try to run those games on separate monitors displaying simultaneously.

Emails acting very strange

Sending emails through Gmail client on Samsung smart phone.
Forward an email chain to somebody else and it deletes earlier messages in the email chain and inserts messages from completely different email chains...

Chrome issues with XPS 15 touchpad

Hey r/techsupport, I have been experimenting with a bunch of browsers for quite a while. I have been switching between opera, microsoft edge, and chrome for the past few months and am trying to make up my mind on which one to use primarily. I loved using chrome on my older MacBook Pro because of the nice, smooth scrolling. When I upgraded to a dell xps 15 the scrolling in chrome compared to microsoft edge had a noticeable difference because of issues with microsoft's precision touchpads. Microsoft edge feels super fast and has almost instant response. I have researched this all over the internet and cannot come to a conclusion as to why chrome has this atrocious scrolling on a windows precision touchpad compared to a mac touchpad. I know windows touchpads aren't that good but that doesn't explain why edge is so responsive. I really liked using chrome before because I use google docs and drive and youtube all the time and would like to continue to use the easy account management chrome has. Opera's scrolling is better than in chrome but nowhere near like microsoft edge. I have tried all the scrolling extensions for chrome like smoothscroll and a few others. I have also tried messing around in chrome:flags and I cannot get the same scrolling experience as I get in microsoft edge. I do not need to use chrome for the extension support as I only use adblock and edge has an adblock extension and opera has a built in adblock. So, is it worth sticking with chrome and dealing with the atrocious stuttery, slow scrolling? Or, is it worth switching to edge for good and leaving chrome behind me?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have a strong suspicion that it’s not just for the IT company but the employers will have access too to the Remote Desktop application. I’m job hunting and I don’t want anyone to find out. Sennheiser RS 170 Wireless Headphones desync all the time

Hey,
as of today my trust Headset, isnt as trusty anymore.

When I activated it this morning, everything worked fine, but after ~30-60 minutes, it desynced. Sometimes it resyncs after 5-10minutes for a short while (sub 20sec) sometimes it doesnt.

I removed the battery and also all connections to the transmitter, waited for 15min and put everything back together, and it worked for a couple minutes, than same thing. I tried to follow the instructions to manually sync but even if that worked (As I said it starts to work randomly, so i cant be sure that did it) only for a short while.

My Transmitter is blinking like once a second, and the headphones are like 4sec light on, 1sec light off.

Any ideas?

Im using Windows 10 if that plays any role.

Started yesterday after letting some apps update. Unmounting the sd card and letting the storage refresh shows more sensical numbers. Mounting sd card makes it do this again. All apps that can be moved to sd card have been moved since sd card is bigger. I dont think i even have 13gb of apps. I have a feeling im missing something obvious...

ELI5: If I have an older, yet up-to-date Anti Virus, does it defend me from the same viruses as its 2017 version?

If, for example, I have AVG's 2015 version and its fully updated, does it defend me from the same viruses as the 2017 version of AVG?

I understand the 2017 version might have more FEATURES, but in terms of Virus signatures and "red flag" moves, wouldn't they be the same?

New monitor only worked for a day.

New monitor worked for a day but will not turn on today, despite the power button LED being on. I have turned off any power saving settings in windows, unplugged/plugged it in multiple times, tried a different outlet, checked all cable connections, updated all drivers and restarted my PC multiple times. My other monitor is working but not my new one. Nothing happens when pressing the power button.

GPU acting weird as f*ck

Hey guys. Yesterday I noticed that if I really max out a game, I only get 30fps, with 30-40% GPU utilization. I'm sure it's not a CPU bottleneck, cause the CPU is only utilized at 10-20%. I changed the Nvidia power setting to "prefer maximum performance" (it was on optimal), and it got even weirder. Without doing anything really, my GPU's clockspeed is high, so is the temperatures.

When playing a game on max settings with that power setting, I have the same thing. http://ift.tt/2iN8LRc I'm testing it with Minecraft, yes, with shaders cause it's really demanding, and this game launches the fastest.

Vsync is turned to 'Fast', because if it is off, my screen is tearing. (it is 60hz) Latest nvidia drivers. (388.13) EVGA GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: changed to adaptive power, same thing in games, except my idle temps are ok. 'Game mode' on or off, same thing.

Get USB Parallel Activation Dongle to register as LPT1

So I have a piece of software that is running on a server, and this has a parellel port activation / security dongle to allow paid features. I have since virtualised this server to running on ESXi, but its new home has no parallel port.

After phoning support people (who frankly didn't seem to understand what I meant when I said server) they said to pick up a USB/Parallel converter, which I was skeptical about but have done. Plugging in from the box hasn't worked, and my current logic is that it being a legacy piece of software is only checking LPT1 (which of course doesn't exist).

Is there a way to cast this USB dongle to the LPT1 port? It appears in device manager as a USB device. Most of what I've searched is about getting a network printer to work and hasn't worked for me.

GPU blackscreening my PC and forcing me to restart my pc

Hey guys my PC blackscreens when I play literally any game and half the time the fans ramp up to max. The GPU temp is about 40-50 when it crashes so that's obviously not the problem. I can hear sound when it crashes and everything just transferred to my second monitor which is attached to the Mobo. I have a GTX 770 and an i3 4130 sorry if this is poorly worded

Can connect to wifi, but can't access internet.

Alright, so 2 nights ago there was a pretty big storm around here. The morning after that, I had internet until like 9 am, than it was gone. Now that usually happens, cause my internet provider is a trashy family company, so I didn't think much of it, I was hoping they'd fix it by the afternoon. Come today, the internet is still unaccessable. I can connect, but both my laptop and my phone says that "The internet can not be accesed through this connection".

I need internet for my work, im using a hella expensive mobile connection rn, so it would be nice to get my internet back ASAP. I looked stuff up, and tried some of it, it didn't solve my problem, and I dont really want to mess my laptop's connection up. So what can I do?

Wi-Fi odd behaviour

So I am having insomnia tonight. Wake up, check phone, Wi-Fi cannot connect to any websites. Turn Wi-Fi off and data on. Everything fine. Turn PC on. Google works, YouTube works, bit nothing else. No steam no discord no facebook. Can google things but not open selected page. I don't know if this is my end or what? Basically Wi-Fi only working on wired PC and only for some websites.

Is there a method for troubleshooting most IT problems within a business?

I'm going for an interview tomorrow, and I will be asked how to solve a IT issue. I don't think I'll have any problems, I'm just a little nervous.

I was wondering if there is some sort of "checklist" of things to check if for example a switch doesn't work, or a client can't access an email server.

Is there a method for general IT troubleshooting?

PC Freezes Completely

Hi, I have an old pc with Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 and a 2x4gb DDR3

My pc is randomly freezing but just before it there is some distortion in the screen like this for few seconds and it just freezes completely, no beep sound, no input feedback, no increase/decrease of fan speed, nothing shows in the screen except the freezing, no click or weird sound in HDD, also no blinking from HDD light and it still freeze like hours by letting it just to see if it's go away. All is well (which is not) until I force shutdown and turning it on again, just seeing the distortion again and it freezes again. No Idea what's the cause, did some google and it leads me to check my ram if it's faulty, which is not. and I did reinstall my windows to see it was the culprit, still happens. checked my HDD to see some errors, all is well HDD is fine. So I'm losing idea and I need help

GL502VM laptop fan speeds constantly at max

so recently since around one or two months ago my Asus GL502VMs fans have been randomly spinning up to max for extended periods of time, the temperatures definitely don't justify the levels of fan activity. I've tried:

-Updating Intel Drivers

-Updating Nvidia Drivers

-Reverting to old version of Windows

-Running full system scans with Malwarebytes and Windows Defender

-Blocking some apps like Runtime Broker in registry

New grahics card installed, cannot launch any games

Hello, I've recently installed a new GPU: Sapphire Pule Radeon RX 550 4GB. After havng some trouble with the system not recognizing the card and drivers not installing, i uninstalled all display drivers with DDU. After this, installing the drivers worked fine.

Now the problem is that i can't launch any of the games on my system. This includes old and new titles on steam such as TF2 and XCOM2, aswell as all Battle.net applications and Minecraft. I can start the launchers if there are any, but anything past that and the games immediately crash. All of the games are on my secondary drive D, except Minecraft, which is on C. I got a log output from Minecraft crashing, this is what it says:

Explorer.exe keeps crashing

Been going on for a few days now, tried everything, please help! The taskbar isn't functional, I can't open the start menu and none of the buttons on the bottom right (date etc.) work. None of the pinned applications are visible. After a few minutes, explorer.exe stops working and this all disappears alongside the desktop. Alongside this, when I try to open images or videos I get an error message saying 'not implemented'. I also can't change the volume when explorer has crashed. I've been having to open programs through the task manager and rerunning explorer.exe to access the desktop. I've tried everything google has had to offer -

• Anti-virus runs clear
• Updated drivers using driver talent
• Reinstalling windows gets about halfway before saying there was an error and no changes were made
• sfc /scannow reaches 19% before saying it can't complete
• Been through registry to find any errors
• It persists in safe mode
• Persists on a new user account
• Tried system restores, still persists, ran out of possibilities
• HitMan Pro runs clear

I'm having trouble associating .xml files with Excel 2016. I tried previously through the "open with" option when I right clicked and got the icon to show. I noticed it looked a little different:

I can open this .exe file without a problem so it should work, right? Nope. It gives me the same error as when the odd looking Excel icon was default.

And when I double-click to open it, it still doesn't run. Nothing happens. I have to manually open files from within Excel and I have no idea how to solve this problem. I don't have to manually open approximately 300 .xml files so I can transfer them into a single .xls file. I have 4 days to do this and I don't want to waste time opening files.

TL;DR: I want to associate .xml files with Excel but Windows 10 makes it difficult.

I can't get this virus/malware to go away

It won't go away (the top window has nothing to do with the virus btw, I mean the pop up on the bottom. That's the main virus.)

I posted like four times in the antivirus subreddit and tried most of the stuff they said (I can't run an image of an antivirus cuz I don't have an optical or usb thumbdrive at the moment)

It says "access denied" when I try going to the folder its in. Proccess explorer just shows blank for those programs. A lot of antiviruses like Avast and stuff, I pick to only scan the folder the virus is in, and nothing shows up. Other programs pick stuff up but it says "removal failure." It doesn't let some services work, like the windows firewall is being very wonky and won't let me enable most features, and spybot search and destroy (and some other antivirus programs) are unable to start their update service even manually.

I tried safe mode with Tron and all my antivirus programs. I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to reformat right now because my friends are playing a computer game on halloween and I don't want to be late installing everything again.

Can't access new routers settings page

Ok so here's the deal. My workplace has free wifi but it kinda sucks but my boss let me install my own router so i could get a better internet connection in my office.

I bought a Linksys WRT 1900ACS and connected it to the switch near my office and the router works since i can connect to it and am able to get a good internet connection, but the problem is that i can't for the life of me access the setting of this router. 192.168.1.1 or the linksys smart wifi page doesn't work either (i can log in but it tells me to install some firmware but i can't install the firmware since i can't access the router).

Now i tried some troubleshooting on my own and wasn't successful and even the Linksys tech support were kind of lost...

Connecting directly to the switch does not work as i cannot get a internet connection from it for some reason but once i connect the router to the switch and connect to the router it magically works.

I found out that there once was a it guy that set up the existing network and there is a big Zyxel ZyWall USG 100 that the switch is connected to. So when i write in the IP address to access the router it takes me to the Zyxel's log in page.

Failed to install RSAT

So I'm trying to install the KB958830 so I have access to the RSAT. So I try to install this and then it asks for a reboot, so I do this. While rebooting it says "configuring windows updates..." and then it shuts down, it starts again. Still "configuring windows updates". After a while it says "Failure to configur windows updates, reverting changes" and it never installed.

When looking in the event viewer it says: Package KB958830 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x80070005. Which is like an access denied thing. I'm probably overlooking something obvious, but I can't see it.

Things I tried: Disable proxy, disable AV, install with domain admin account, change some regkeys etc. I tried a lot but I can't seem to fix it.

Can't find old Google+ profile?

I can't log into my old google account so I'm trying to figure out if I had a google+ profile with it.

I tried typing in the gmail address in the google+ profile search, but I got no results. Does this mean I didn't have a google+ profile?

If it was set to private, would it still show up when I typed in the gmail?

Custom PC freezing during gaming, temperatures fine

Hello techsupport, first time here.

My PC specs are as the following: -Ryzen 1600 OC'ed to 3.8ghz -RX 580 -16gb RAM clocked at 2933mhz

When I play games (really any game installed on my computer), the game and the whole computer will occasionally freeze up (usually once a session). Temperatures seem to be fine according to Afterburner as I play, and it happens for every game (League of Legends, PUBG, Mount and Blade, etc). When this happens, I can't alt-tab or anything and I can often still hear sound. The only way to get out of the freeze is to ctrl-alt-delete and sign out or restart my computer. To counteract this, I have been leaving a word file open so that when I press sign out, it will stop a full sign out because of the save prompt.

I am not sure what is going on, the OC seems to be stable since the computer doesn't shut down outright, perhaps in the RAM? But even if its RAM I'd assume it would still shut down completely.

Any help would be appreciated, and thank you in advance!

Xbox 360 deleted my precious external USB Hard Drive

My brother plugged in our Hard drive to to Xbox 360 and lost photos and videos dating back to 2007. He tried to delete a video and somehow he deleted everything. Everything. Desktop not reading full ram - 16gb installed (7.9 available)

Today I noticed my desktop computer is not utilizing my full 16gb of ram and I can't figure out why.. I tried a few things in msconfig and cmnd prompt but nothing has stuck.. when I go to control panel > system it says 16gb installed (7.9 usable)

Laptop extending to TV via hdmi

So i have a laptop, dell inspirion think (totally forgot), that i want to start using to extend display on my TV that's above my main personal PC. I currently use it besides my work station to serve as a distraction while working. It hooks up fine and sounds fine however how can i have it show the screen WHILE the laptop lid is closed instead of just duping the display.

Best Router to Buy on a Budget?

Basically title, looking to buy a router around 100$, but can go over a little bit if need be. What I'm really looking for is a router with long range because I need it to cover almost 4,000 square ft. I'm planning on buying it on Amazon (yes I have prime) or other tech stores like BestBuy if there is a good deal.

At the moment I found this router that seems to satisfy what I need, but if anyone of you kind hearted people can find something of better value at around the same price I'd love to see what you dig up.

My computer blows out the internet once a week, and it's gettin' awfully annoying.

Windows 10 64bit. i5. 8 GB RAM.

I use this computer as a Plex server, so it's on 24/7. But once a week, usually on Thursdays, it completely blows out the internet in my apartment. As in, no device will connect either wirelessly or over LAN. When I turn off the computer, everything goes back to normal... until a week later, when it happens all over again.

This weekend was the final straw as it blew out on the first day of a long weekend vacation, and of course the only way to fix it would have been to drive back eight hours to turn it off and on again.

I thought it might be a Windows update thing, but I've had them paused for two weeks hoping it would fix the problem. No luck.

How can I figure out what program and/or problem is causing this to happen?

Description of problem

DisplayLink and Windows Laptop Power Settings Question

We use DisplayLink docking stations. Typically a user will have their laptop open, press power ON / wakeup, connect the DisplayLink docking station and laptop power, then shut the laptop to use two primary larger monitors.

I have configured Power Options to leave the laptop powered on when AC power is connected. When it's not connected, it's set to sleep.

The problem I seem to be running into is once AC power is removed from the laptop once it's already shut and connected to USB DisplayLink docking station... it won't recognize this and never sleep. All displays from the docking station continue to work on laptop battery power.

I'm concerned that users won't manually put the computer to sleep, unplug the power and docking station at end of day, and have a dead battery and extremely hot laptop when they power it back up at home.

Anyone ran into this issue?

Wifi extender stopped working

Yesterday our wifi extender went down and now the extension network has disappeared.. people in the home have speculated it's gone back to its original settings and original password but they don't know what that is.. I was able to connect on a tablet via wps button but when I tried to go into 192.168.1.254 it just had the main routers information pop up.. any suggestions?

2.4 GHz Wifi Extremely Slow Since Installation of Smart Home Devices

Recently, I began the conversion of my house to a smart home with different things, such as wifi controlled lights, outlets, etc. 7 devices are constantly connected at all times, while all of the high end / high speed devices are connected to the 5GHz channel. When people come over, they connect to whatever channel seems to be available on their device. For some reason, even though a max of roughly 10 devices are connected on the 2.4 GHz channel, it speed tests around 0.65 mbps. Even if some device was limiting the router to G speeds, there is no reason the router should be this slow. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this may be? I am currently using a Linksys WRT1200AC with stock firmware, and the channel is set up to be the least crowded one in the area. The router is also connected to 600/50 internet, and the speedtests were being done in the same room as the router. Thanks!

My computer will not support the latest Windows 10 updates. It will download an update, start to install it, then get stuck at 87% and lock up. Every time this happens my computer is out of commission for an hour or so because it has to restart and revert to the previous install (after a few hard resets). I confirmed with Windows tech support that my machine simply won't support future updates. All I want to do now is end the auto updates for good.

Hey /Techsupport/I recently bought two Blue Yeti USB mics for making a podcast. A problem occured that my Macbook Air can't detect the mics as two seperate mics, making me unable to use both mics for recording.I tried using the two mics on my PC and it was able to differentiate the two mics - doesn't work on mac though.I was wondering if maybe a USB-dock can solve the problem making my Macbook able to seperate the two mics. Any help is appreciated.

Help on where to start to trouble shoot with a laptop

Yesterday I was heavy using my MSI laptop, I do not remember the model number I know I has a Core I7 with 16 gig ram, a 256 SSD, 1TB HDD, Nvidia GTX 1060.

I was playing final Fantasy xiv, Encoding a video and burning it with DVDstyler, and transferring video video from an Iphone to the computer.

The computer blue screened. and then rebooted, it said not finding a boot drive. and it tossed me into the Bios, I checked the bios and it did not see the SSD only the 1TB, I disabled fast boot. and power cycled the laptop. I checked Windows event viewer and I see some red errors and red crticials, but I did not understand them.

What concerned me was that the SSD disappeared in the Bios. I could accept that the laptop trip thermal and shut down, but when it re-booted and tossed me to Bios it scared me,

any advice on how to trouble shoot. I am at work so I do not have access to paste the windows event viewer, I can paste that if there is a need.

Any help would be great

Help with possible virus

Currently am dealing with what I believe to be some sort of malware, came out of nowhere while i was just playing Diablo 3. Redirects all browsers "http://ift.tt/2zkP7mI; which then opens some random third party search. I've checked my homepage settings and all that and they are all set to default to Google.com. Along with this there are 4-5 instances of "scevknx.exe" running and they are taking up a large amount of CPU. Please help if anyone knows how to deal with this. Thank you

Trying to play Wolfenstein New Colossus on my Dell Inspiron 7567 but having resolution problems when opening the game

Hey guys, first post here. I appreciate any help.

Ive got a Dell inspiron laptop 7567 w/ a GTX 1050 ti, i5-7300HQ, 8 GB RAM on Windows 10 and have been trying to boot up Wolfenstein 2 the new colossus. But every time I do so, my laptop's screen drops in resolution and then when I go into the game's settings to change the graphics options, it won't go up to 1080p. Every time i close the game, the resolution goes back to the original 1080p. My laptop is a 1920x1080 screen and my GPU is definitely good enough to run this game at 1080p so I dont know what the issue is. Ive been looking around on google but have not found anything that fixes the issue. This does not happen with any other games on my PC. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

Windows 10 user configuration messed up after update

I just updated Windows 10 and lost all my user configuration (Documents folder, wallpaper, desktop, shortcuts etc.). The original data is in the folder C:\Users\Cliente\ and now is in C:\Users\Cliente.PC. Any way of restore it?

Motherboard Errorcode FE

Hey, so i have the Maximus VII Ranger motherboard and i had had problems with my Ram Sticks ( i had 2x 8gb ram stickes sticked into both red slots) since it only showed 4 GB on my system i pulled them out and swapped places of them just to try it out, maybe they were not correctly in the slots. Now i try to boot my pc and my motherboard shows the errorcode FE. I assumed it is because i changed the slots so i put them back in the origional places, i still get the error code FE.

I also tryed to use only one stick in every slot but both dont seem to work since i get the same error code everytime.

Turned on my computer this morning with no peripherals working. After getting it to work and then failing multiple times, I'm out of solutions.

Hi all.

Last night I was on my PC and shut it off normally before I went to bed. When I went to turn it on this morning, the computer failed to start. Usually when I turn on the computer the lights on my keyboard and mouse turn on briefly after a second or two. However now they turn on for a second or two as soon as I press the power button. The monitor would usually then display a splash screen however now it doesn't turn on at all.

I decided to restart it, and it worked for about 30 minutes. At this point it didn't bluescreen, but had columns of brown all the way down. The audio from the video I was watching continued for about 4 seconds before it stopped playing. I powered off the computer by holding the power button.

I restarted a few times and the computer never booted normally. I opened the side panel and saw that all the fans were working. I took the ram out and put it back in again, turned it on, and it worked again for about another 30 minutes, until it crashed again but with red columns this time.

After restarting and replacing the ram it still wouldn't start, and I'm not sure what else to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure if this means anything but when the computer is working normally, to turn it off via the power button I have to hold it down for a few seconds, which is normal. However now I only have to press it and it turns off immediately. I don't have a speaker plugged into my motherboard but I can buy one if you guys think it would help.

Hello! so we have a Gas chromatograph, its basically a tool that separates out samples so that we can identify whats in them. being that its a $20,000 piece of equipment of course its annoyingly hard to operate. there are settings on the thing that we call "f settings" (short for function settings) which are accesible in a reasonable way only if you use an old school "chromatopac" which is basically a DOS operated PC. because were running it using a workstation with windows XP the f settings have to be changed by hand, meaning we push a button 84 times to get to setting f84 push enter then it displays a number which we check against our known working values for that setting and push enter again and then repeat that 264 times until we have verified that all f settings are correct. its a horrible truly aweful. so please help me to figure out how i can go about getting started on writing a script to display all these settings. I cant even tell what language its telling me to script in, if you read through all this thank you!

Machine Check exception opinion?

As probably, obviously deduced, I've just received a blue screen followed by, "were sorry.... machine check exception". I was mining on the side (as a bit of a test hobby) as I have been doing for about a month now, overnight when it happened. My machine boots into Bios fine and stays running and temps are low. Did a bios flash and still getting machine check exception. More a brainstorming request -- as I don't see any physical evidence of malfunction right off the bat and Bios continues to operate soundly as well as I get visual and audio from my vcard... does anyone have an opinion on the most likely area at fault. Naturally I jump to the HDD but, it does seem like a lackluster excuse for failure especially being only a few months old and having been stressing other components at the time of failure. I still need to disassemble and bench but I figured I'd stop here first. Always great to hear experienced peer's points of view before I end up in a money hole in the wrong direction. I understand mining was the most likely cause, at least took part in, but seems weird none the less.

My PC started lagging like crazy -- everything's so slow, and I don't know why.

I have a GTX 1080 and i7 7700k. My PC is less than a year old, and it was running fine last night, but this morning after I woke up I started playing a game only to see that I had 5 FPS on it and I could barely look around since it was stuttering so much.

Since then, I've formatted Windows 10 fully to make sure it wasn't malware and also ran chkdsk and scandisk to check for hard drive errors. The results came back fine. I barely got around to installing my GPU drivers and stuff since Microsoft Edge was too laggy. System settings wouldn't open for a bit, and then the GPU driver installation took like 40 minutes, instead of 5 minutes like it used to. I'm almost positive it's a hardware problem now, but I can't pinpoint what. Everything seems to be okay... But it's just so slow and heavy.

Could my roommate's WiFi extender be screwing up the WiFi overall?

My roommate decided to go out and buy a WiFi extender because he "doesn't get good enough WiFi in his room." Coincidentally, our original WiFi network seems to get much worse whenever it is plugged in. I had 4 buddies over for a fantasy football draft at the start of September, and our internet straight up was not working until I finally unplugged his extender, at which point it began to work perfectly again. Every once in a while, our internet will slow to a crawl, and it is usually fixed by unplugging his extender.

Could this extender be the problem, or am I just imagining it? We also live in a house with 5 other guys, so maybe that contributes to it? He is very stubborn so I'd have to provide him with an exact technical reason why he can't keep his extender.

EDIT: He is pretty technologically inept so there is a decent chance that if there are any steps to setting up the wireless extender other than plugging it in, he screwed those up.

HELP ME FIX MY PC PLEASE!!!!!! Power Issue.

So I recently had my CPU overclocked and then I changed all the settings back to default and then I noticed I was having an issue where my computer would start up and be fine for about 5 mins, then it just powers off completely, so I power it back on and I log in and it shuts off right away this time, then I power it up and it posts and then shuts off before I can even log on, this goes on about 10 more times of powering it on and it shutting off right away, and then all of a sudden it's fine and I can log in and use my computer like there is no issue and it won't power off until I shut it down.

It will post and I am able to get into the BIOS but it will also power off on me sometimes when in the BIOS.

My system was working fine, then I overclocked it and it was still fine and then I didn't want it overclocked to I put it to stock settings.

If you have any suggestions feel free to voice your opinion.

I do not believe it's my power supply because it will eventually work after multiples power down cycles (unless its a faulty power supply) and I don't think its a windows issue or a software on my PC because it will power off before windows even has a chance to boot.

[Android Phone] My girlfriend's Galaxy Note 5 was submerged in water for 2-3 seconds

Hello, forgive me if this isn't the right subreddit to request help on this subject.

My girlfriend dropped her phone in water and it was submerged for about 2-3 seconds.

Her screen is blank and she cannot power on the phone. There is no charge indicator when she tried to charge it.

I have two questions/concerns:

1) If this is a battery issue, can a repair shop open the phone and replace the battery to fix the phone

2) If replacing the battery fixes the phone, will the files stored on the phone be affected?

As an aside, if the phone is completely ruined, is there a program online that anyone trusts will work to pull the pictures and videos stored on the phone?

Apartment’s WiFi nightmare, suggestions?

So I’ll try to make this concise. I’m not great with dealing with wireless connections, and have always had my own router through a leased modem. My new apartment complex off-campus has a system through a company called Korcett where to connect to WiFi, you enter the device’s wireless MAC address on your Korcett account, then it allows access to the connection to that device. The max speed they have is 10 mbps upload/download, which is the first problem. My 2 roommates being on their phones at all or anything on the WiFi renders Xbox Live almost useless and down to 2-3 Mpbs. I have a small simple router in the apartment that the company put there with an Ethernet cable coming from an unseen router through the wall, most likely somewhere a bit more distant in the building.

Here’s the issue: we get fined $200 if we’re caught with our own router.

My fix, thinking I’d get a warning if I got caught just to test the waters, I put an old Netgear router connected to the unseen modem’s Ethernet cable, and registered the Netgear router’s MAC address on the Korcett website. A week later before I left for class, a KORCETT REPRESENTATIVE knocked on the door, saying he saw my unit had been disconnected and he’d like to check it. This is at 10 am while both my roommates are gone and every electronic is turned off, so he re-plugs it in and does a SpeedTest and of course gets 8.5-9.5 mbps, because nobody was here. He says to leave it plugged in and don’t touch it and left.

How do I get a more reliable connection while theoretically working their system? Will my Netgear router being plugged in if I did a quick switch be detectable? Anything else I could get that could boost my signal or possibly even up my speed without the company and landlord flipping shit? Already talked to the complex about the poor speed, said there’s nothing they can do and this is their system.

Any help or ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Please Help Me Complete this Database!!

So basically, in school (business/management class [college]) I was assigned a non-profit, and was asked to help them solve a problem with my team. The problem they had was that they were unable to keep track of their members effectively. So, with the lack of a technical background we have decided to do a membership card in which they can scan in. Obviously, the scanning systems are expensive, so we are attempting to use QR codes on the cards. Currently, we are able to type in a name and get a custom QR code for their name (Google Sheets); and we have a way if we type in their name we get a time and date (Excel). Now, we are needing help on combining these two and finding some sort of App that will scan the QR and send it to a database!

Razer Naga Hex is messing up keyboards on any computer it is plugged into.

So, I've had this mouse for years, and have never had any problems until now. About a month ago, I noticed that on my laptop, certain keys would sometimes not work. These keys were c, f, r, backspace, 0, 8, and 9. I just ignored it at the time, but, now the same keys don't work at all. I have a feeling it's my mouse, because I plugged it into my desktop a few days ago and then keys on that keyboard instantly stopped working as well. T, C, 4, and a few others that I don't remember. Additionally, even when the mouse is removed the same keys STILL don't work. I've also already tried uninstalling/reinstalling keyboard/mouse drivers, along with unplugging the mouse and THEN uninstalling/reinstalling keyboard/mouse drivers. I'm certain this is a driver issue despite the above not working. Some notes that might help:

• The mouse has 6 number keys on the side of it, which is what I think is causing the confliction

• There were two "Razer Naga Hex" Drivers.. One under mouse drivers, and one under keyboard. The keyboard is now called "HID Keyboard Device" After uninstalling. I've tried taking this driver and updating it back up to the naga hex driver.. But when I do this everything is still broken.

• Before, sometimes, when holding down another key on the keyboard, the ones that normally wouldn't work, would. For example, the f key wouldn't work normally, but if I held down another key such as down arrow key, and then press the f key while holding the arrow key down, the f key would work. This doesn't happen anymore though.

Does anyone have any idea?? This is a VERY frustrating problem, especially since this is affecting my work computer. Please help!!

Apps opens up on wrong monitors or scales up

This has bothered me for quite some time now and I haven't found a solution. I've searched the internet plenty of times with no luck.

I have three monitors. One 16:9 main monitor, a 21:9 monitor above it and a TV on the side which is off most of the time. I like to have apps such as Discord and battlenet/steam friends up on my 21:9 monitor, but when I shut my computer the windows spreads out all over the place. I have to use windows+shift+arrow to move my windows from my TV (which is off) to my 21:9 or rescale the windows that tend to become huge and pixellated.

I am so tired of having to adjust all the windows every time I boot up my computer. If there's a solution to this, please let me know.

Dying Motherboard?

I've got a Dell XPS Windows 7 64 bit PC that I've been poking at for the last week. It came to me because the user couldn't get a network connection, and neither can I.

It has both an Ethernet connection and a built in wifi antenna on the board. Neither work, even after uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers from the manufacturer's site. I've also tried a USB wifi adapter, but same story.

So, my next thought is that there's a windows service that's failing to start. I run a sfc, everything passes. I do a disk check, everything is happy. Still no connection, so I try a system restore. It fails. I run a system refresh from a windows 7 disk, and it's hanging at the welcome screen.

I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue, any suggestions?

I really dont play any recent games besides maybe Overwatch, WoW, Diablo 3 and Civ5 and i'd like a bit of an FPS boost (OW goes from 20 to 40).

Would going to 16GB ram help in any way? I expect to buy a new laptop next year I just wanna survive an extra year

New PC build, some problems with gaming

I recently built my first PC, and it turns on, things work, however when I try to play a game the frame rate must be in the single digits. I can see my graphics card (1080ti) in device manager and have uninstalled the drivers, restarted the computer and done varies other stuff the internet told me to do for the last couple of days. I'm really at a loss, and I'm not good at computer shit, if anyone had any suggestions that would be great.

Installing Windows 10 on a HP Elitebook 745 G2 which has a blank hard drive

Hi,

Hoping someone can help out, I've trawled the internet and I'm not finding the solution. I'm quite experienced with hardware and software but I've been away from Windows for a long time and I'm really struggling.

I've got a HP Elitebook 745 G2. I believe it was originally installed with Windows 7 but the HD failed and I've just installed a brand new SSD.

I've created a Windows 10 USB boot disk (a few different ways, but essentially with the ISO from MS).

After a massive mess around trying to find the right BIOS options (USB3 / Legacy / UEFI / CSM etc) I've managed to get a USB stick booting, I get to the first screen which asks me to 'install windows 10', then I get a prompt suggesting that it doesn't have the relevant drivers it needs.

I've tried downloading the HP SoftPaq for this model for Windows 10 and extracting it to a second USB stick, the only 'installable' driver appears to be in the 'Realtek' folder, however, once I select this I get a progress bar that goes to 100% then restarts and repeats. The only way out of this loop is to power off the laptop.

What is the correct procedure for installing Windows 10 from the ISO on a clean disk? HP discusses recovery media and software kits but none of these are appropriate because either I have to order Windows 7 DVDs from HP or I have to have a Windows 10 install running on the laptop so I can create the recovery disks (which I don't have as it's a brand new HD).

I'm suspecting that there must be some driver files somewhere that I can copy to the USB stick to get moving but, having tried that, now I'm not so sure.

This machine will boot Linux no problem so I can assume it's fundamentally working.

I can't believe in 2017 this is really that complicated? How come Windows 10 doesn't have sufficient driver support for a 2 year old laptop?

Can anyone offer any advice specific to this model of machine?

I own an ASUS Q302LA (as mentioned above), and today, while I was using it, the computer suddenly blacked out on me.

No lights, nothing.

I've tried plugging in the charger and nothing charges at all.

I may be overthinking it, but could it just be the need of a battery replacement? Before this, I usually put my computer to sleep by closing the lid while being on the go, and recently it would die moments after put to sleep.

Why is my computer hot now when I game?

Last fall I bought an MSI gaming laptop with a GTX 1060. I used it mainly for playing overwatch, Rocksmith and league of legends. I hardly do anything else with it aside from YouTube videos but these days when in play a game, it gets so hot it's actually uncomfortable to touch. I have my graphics set to the same it was a year ago and my fans set to cooler booster but it's 30° hotter than it was a year ago. Even rebooting and closing all programs before playing doesn't keep it cool.

I just want to play Overwatch again without fearing for my computers life.

CPU Fan Speed Update Time?

With MSI Afterburner you can set a value in ms for how long the program will wait when the temperature rises before updating the fan speed. (see here)

I'm looking for a program/bios setting/hard coded way of doing the same thing with my cpu, as I'm noticing when my cpu temp spikes above the threshold it'll ramp up, causing my cpu to be annoyingly loud when the fans rev up from 20%-40%. Any tips?

Frame rate drop on Final Fantasy XIV

Last week I formatted my PC, prior to that the game was running perfectly on maximum settings. After formatting I started experiencing some fps drop, from 60fps to 27fps.

I changed all my settings to low/off but the issue persisted. Then I uninstalled the video driver, installed again but nothing changed. Ran CCleaner, CHKDSK, reset my FFXIV settings on the launcher menu and the issue didn't happen anymore.

Today, tired of seeing GeForce Experience in-game overlay message on my screen every time I started the game, I decided to turn it off. I opened the GeForce Experience software, turned off the in-game overlay and the FPS drop started happening again. Tried to solve it by doing the things I did before, but this time it didn't solve this problem. Now I have no idea what to do.

Hdd to SSD.

As a disclaimer, I realize there is a lot of information about how to upgrade with and SSD,. It cannot find anything specific to my problem. My problem is not the installation of the SSD, that's easy, I also know how create a media etc.

I just bought a 500gb SSD, hoping to use it as a boot drive to replace my 5(ish) year old slow 1tb harddrive. What I'm curious about is can I simply just create a boot drive with a USB, install a new version of Windows on to the SSD and boot form there? And than I will still have all of my files I assume, but will I have to re install drivers and whatnot or can it still use the drivers from the hdd?

My computer has drastically slowed down in the last week, and I can't figure out what the problem is. No malware is appearing when I run a test.

Hi!

In the last week my computer has drastically slowed down, games that I could run with no issues on ultra are crashing when on low, and doing simple things like opening folders can cause my PC to freeze.

Specs (Windows 7 OS)

Things I've tried to resolve the issue:

1. Running my computer on OC mode and using my gaming booster.

2. Defragmenting both of my hard drives.

3. Checking for malware

4. Cleaning out my PC's fans with canned air.

5. Letting My PC run a disk check.

6. Updated all of my drivers

I'm out of ideas, what else can I try?

Changing place of work, want to backup all my mail

Is there any way to do this? They are using their own domain which connects to Outlook Office 365. Computer at work also has the Windows Mail app. Can't find how to export my email from that though :/

HP laptop screen suddenly stopped working

Went to boot up the laptop today, and the screen displays this. It hasn't had any problem like this before. The laptop did suffer a minor drop about a month ago, but it's been working fine since then with daily use.

The computer works with an external monitor, so it appears to be an issue with the screen itself. Is there anything I can do to fix it, or am I boned?

Model is an HP 2000 Notebook running Windows 7.

Would it be possbile to get 2 mouse pointers on screen at once?

weird question i know. i have a dual screen setup a laptop with a VGA into a monitor beside it, my question is could i have say a screen recorder on the first monitor playing a loop of mouse movments and have a second mouse pointer which i can use manually on the other screen?

Is it worth upgrading this old laptop's ram / swap to an SSD? If so, have q's on how to benchmark speeds, and what would/wouldn't work!

I guess I'm wondering if, upon increased ram and a swap to an ssd, what the next bottleneck would be (and how badly it'd limit this laptop) I don't mind messing with it since it's HDD failed ('Click of Death'), it's now running off a thumbdrive with a persistent xubuntu OS and does nothing more than feed an always-on weather radar display on my wall, however I've got another machine I can setup for that duty and, in removing that broken hdd I browsed Newegg and ebay and just couldn't believe how cheap the upgradeable parts were - $20 or less for a 2.5" ssd, $10 for 4gb ram, and it seems fully 'plug&play' so I can't help but think it makes sense to just spend $30 to turn an otherwise useless (now that I've got a suitable replacement for my weather-radar-machine) laptop into something 'functional' (unsure what I'd do with it, either gift it if I find someone in need otherwise craigslist it) The machine itself is this, it's old but if it's got 4gb/ssd it'd be fine for basic-use, am guessing that the CPU would be the bottleneck if I upgraded the ram from 2-->4gb, and the drive from HDD to SSD, hoping for any insight! And whether I'm missing something here, so far as I can tell here those are the only 2 upgrades to make, couldn't even guess at a 3rd actually w/o overkill like changing stuff on the board itself which is unlikely to be worthwhile for this, would sooner leave it as my weather-only machine than have to open it up, I'm able to do the ram (ddr2 I'm sure) and the ssd (unsure if the plugs are homogeneous but will see!) by just removing panels on the bottom of the machine, very simple!

Did Memory management bsod wipe my hard-drive?

I just got a memory management bsod and it was stuck on boot. I restarted my PC and it turns off and shuts down and starts back up again. I switched the ram sticks around and it fixed it but now it won't boot to windows. my bios it recognizes both my hard drives.

4gb of RAM is hardware reserved. Windows 10 64 bit.

I have 8gb of RAM installed and the computer shows that this is the case but half of my RAM is hardware reserved. Is it supposed to be like this or not? Can certain things access it like games that require 8gb of RAM?

Having some issues with my H100i V2 right now...

I probably already know the answer to this, but I was just wanting to see if anyone else has had some personal experience with this.

Basically, I bought a secondhand H100i V2 and it worked perfectly for a few months and all of a sudden today the fans rev up like crazy on the radiator and my computer says CPU temps are hitting 85C, so I quickly shut my computer off. After a few hours I unplugged the computer and unplugged the power cable from the H100 out of the PSU to see if it could power cycle it or something.

If it's worth mentioning, earlier only ONE of the tubes was hot to the touch, the other was cold (or normal temp).

I have an H100i V2, i5 7600k, Asus Strix Z210i, 1080ti, Corsair 250D, EVGA 500w G2 psu.

If you guys need any further info, please let me know. I just want to see if there's a part I can replace that's easy or if I just need to look into getting a new one.

ALSO, will other versions of the corsair closed loop coolers use the same mount? So like the H80 or GTX version or something along those lines? I really don't want to have to use a completely different mound because I built this PC in a 250D so I don't have much room to work with at all and it's a total bitch to access the bottom of the motherboad.

Windows 10 wont wake up from sleep than black screen after reboot.

Hi guys so as stated above I noticed a couple days ago when I got back from work my PC wouldnt wake up from sleep, I moved the mouse and I saw the light on the PC go on however nothing from the monitor, just stayed black. After restarting the PC I get the Mobo splash screen and the windows loading screen, shortly after that instead of loading my desktop the screen goes black, and the monitor switches off a few seconds later as no signal.

This happened again this morning when I got home, I am usually able to get back into windows after a couple of restarts but obviously not a fix and there is something going on in the background.

Any ideas would be great guys cheers.

Gaming Laptop not functioning well

I bought a laptop to play some games. However, while running games or even occasionally, Fresh paint (Microsoft application), my laptop will freeze or the program will crash. While playing some games the game will run slow and skip. Sounds will skip or repeat a half second interval. I am not sure how to fix these issues.
