HP laptop screen suddenly stopped working

Went to boot up the laptop today, and the screen displays this. It hasn't had any problem like this before. The laptop did suffer a minor drop about a month ago, but it's been working fine since then with daily use.

The computer works with an external monitor, so it appears to be an issue with the screen itself. Is there anything I can do to fix it, or am I boned?

Model is an HP 2000 Notebook running Windows 7.
