My company is outsourcing IT to another company. They will be installing a Remote Desktop application on all company computers for backup. If I use a VPN on my Desktop, can they see/access that?

I have a strong suspicion that it’s not just for the IT company but the employers will have access too to the Remote Desktop application. I’m job hunting and I don’t want anyone to find out. I do it during lunchtime, before anyone assumes otherwise. I work two jobs and I don’t have time or access at the other job to do it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Edit: As you ca clearly see I’m not much of a tech person.
