Is my TV messed up or it this normal?

We've had a Samsung KS8000 for a few months and this has always kinda bugged me.

This they are fairly noticeable on panning or static color images (like NFL and baseball games with camera movement against the green field or simply a white background). It's definitely not something that can be fixed with changing the settings.

Is this just normal with edge-lit TVs or does it look like there's some backlight issue? Definitely way out of any return policy but still under manufacturers warranty.
