Google Chrome often hangs even after following the malware removal guide and formatting my hd and reinstalling Windows 10

Chrome frequently hangs, saying something about the 'cache' and takes a minute or two to unfreeze.

I've cleared the cache, followed the /r/techsupport malware removal guide and even formatted my c drive and reinstalled Windows 10 and started again.

Please help.
