Can't install Linux! There is no boot screen.

Hi, yesterday I posted some basic questions on linux and you guys have provided very detailed answers to me.

But I cant install it now.

I downloaded Linux Mint ISO.

Then I created a live usb using this tutorial: http://ift.tt/2rYJvcX

Then I restarted the pc and pressed F12 to select usb drive to boot from.

Then everything on screen is dark. I patiently waited for exactly 20 minutes and nothing happened. No Linux screen showed up and I thought that's it. I switched my laptop off and here I'm again.

It loaded one time though with UBUNTU a few hours ago but I didn't do anything then. Just tried the liveusb then and switched off to load from HDD i.e. windows again. I thought I should download mint! Now, neither ubuntu nor mint is loading. Even the opening screen isn't showing up. Windows is working though.

My Laptop is five years old.

Edit: When I created the LiveUSB from Rufus, the log file said this--

Created: H:\syslinux.cfg Finalizing, please wait... Unable to create H:autorun.inf NOTE: This may be caused by a poorly designed security solution. See http://ift.tt/2uax9wb.

I did go to http://ift.tt/2uax9wb and found this incompatible software lists.

But I don't think I use any of this.
