Data Recovery & Corrupted video files? Accidentally initialized a HDD from old Sony camcorder, it asked to be initialized with MBR.

So my dad has an old Sony dcr-sr15 handycam video camera with an 80GB HDD. (The camera records videos in MPEG-2 format if this helps) The camera doesn't work anymore and there's no way of getting the files off of it. There are alot or important videos on it.

I ripped it open got the 1.8" HDD and plugged it into a ZIF drive to USB adapter. The drive does not show in file explorer but shows in disk manager (Win 10) but is is showing as unallocated space, and windows wants me to create a new volume on it. (i didn't)

However, windows did ask me to create a MBR on it and i stupidly clicked yes before i even knew what it would do. After googling it, i realized that i should not have done that...

I have been using Puran File Recovery. The program managed to recover 240GB of files from the 80GB drive. I have been looking through some of the recovered files and everything is very strange. The files recovered are .mpg files. When playing back some of the files, there are random clips from different recordings put together in the same file, lots of duplicates And some of the clips have scrubbing issues, like when i try to skip forward in the video it bugs out and goes back to the begging. All of the files the files are 200MB or under.

What the fuck is going on here? I know i shouldn't have created the MBR, but it's alreedy been done. Anyone have any idea how to organise this big mess i have made? Any other good recovery software worth trying? I am happy i can at least see and watch back some of the clips but it is still a mess and i have 240GB of files to look through.

If you need any more info please leave a reply or PM me. Thank you so much for any help
