What do I do with setting up my TV to my desktop?

I'm taking my first dives into PC gaming, and I wanted to connect my desktop to my TV so I could play my games from the couch! My TV is in the same room as my desktop, but they're too far away for a wired connection to make sense. I just found out about Miracast, and while my computer doesn't have Bluetooth, it does seem to support this. I've been trying it out, though, and while it works well enough for pictures and videos, there's nearly two seconds of lag, so unless that's fixable I don't expect it'd be a good solution for gaming. I got myself one of these, as the reviews don't mention too much lag (especially since I don't expect to be doing a lot of high-octane stuff, some Sonic 3D Blast, some Monkey Island). But what I didn't realize is that... my computer doesn't have HDMI output. As in, there's no place to plug in an HDMI cable on my computer. I've been using VGA this whole time, and I'm not even sure if there's multiple display out ports. Rookie mistake, I know. I'm wondering if a USB-to-HDMI adapter would do the trick, as that would present a pretty simple solution. The trouble is that I'm worried if this would add lag, along with any minuscule lag from the wireless HDMI contraption, to create less-than-minuscule lag... I suppose a VGA-to-HDMI adapter would have less lag, if that indeed is a thing, but another thing I'm worried about is, if there's no HDMI, but instead VGA on this thing, does that mean that the graphics card is doomed to give me lesser-than-1080p quality picture? Another possibility I've been made aware of (and believe me I do not presume to know of all the possible solutions) is swapping out the graphics card with a better one that has HDMI out... but with the whole cryptocurrency mining craze going on right now, finding a graphics card in this market could be a real struggle, especially on my budget. Also, the PC I have came pre-assembled, an "HP Pavilion", and I don't know how accessible everything is on it. Really one big thing for me with the graphics card thing is that changing out the graphics card would be a quite involved solution and I want to see if there's other things I could do first.

This is my graphics card.

I've been recommended the Steam Link, which sounds great, and addresses a lot of my concerns! however, if it's possible, I'd also be interested in a solution that can reliably let me stream video and stuff from my desktop as well.

What do you think? What can I do to solve this problem and get gaming? Is there a good way to get HDMI up and working on my computer? Or is there an entirely different solution that would be even better for my situation? And whatever I do, will it be able to display in HD? Thank you very much in advance!
