Unable to format External HDD
I have a WD MyPassport 0748 1 TB External HDD, which earlier turned filesystem to RAW, however i was able to recover data and format it back to NTFS using EaseUS Utilities.
Now, after a while, it went back to RAW, and whatever i did earlier, doesn't work anymore. I'm unable to format it either. Now when i connect it back to PC, it takes about 60+ seconds to show up as a drive in 'This PC'.
Here's what I tried and what it resulted into:
- Started up EaseUS Partition Master , Disk shows up as "Unallocated" > Tried to create a new partition > "There are some errors while trying to create new partition chains on disk".
- Similar situation if i try to format it through the same utility.
- Right clicked on the disk in This PC > Explorer stopped responding, when it finally opened up > Properties > 0 Bytes used, 0 Bytes Free.
- Tried formatting through the context menu > Format did not complete successfully.
- Tried formatting through Disk Manager (Shows up as a RAW Disk) > Format did not complete successfully.
- Tried to delete volume through Disk Manager > The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error.
- Tried to format using DISKPART > DiskPart has encountered an error: The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error. See the System Event Log for more information.
I have no idea what to do next. Is my HDD completely fried or is there any way to get it working ? I've already lost all data on it so that doesn't matter anymore.
