Hey there-
A brief moment of panic overtook me so I wanted to reach out to this sub.
So I'm currently volunteering on a campaign. To my knowledge, they have no IT department but bought a wifi system for the temporary campaign headquarters that they've set up.
I was logged in to the work wifi on my personal laptop and was waiting for my colleague to send me a link, and it wasn't coming up so I checked my Spam folder. In my Spam folder was a newsletter from a legitimate site called "Clips4Sale" from which I had purchased a porn clip one time, though (as an ancillary point) I've since deleted it for religious reasons pertaining to my faith's injunctions about pornography. Without thinking, because I'm trying to put the "porn chapter" of my life behind me, I clicked onto the "unsubscribe" button at the bottom of the newsletter and it brought me to a generic page from which I could unsubscribe from further newsletters. Immediately realizing I was on work's wifi, I closed out of the browser in a panic.
To be clear, the website was not displaying video of any kind, nor would I seek such things out, and I had absolutely zero intention of watching anything while at work (and, more broadly, in my personal life.) I have been panicking ever since that whoever runs the wifi (I don't have enough technical knowledge to put it more precisely) will see that I clicked on that site on my personal laptop and think the worst.
I know bringing this up to someone out of the blue would be both uncomfortable and socially uncouth so I bring it here to see if anyone can ease my troubled mind (or perhaps convince me I still ought to be worried).
Thank you.
