Laptop keyboard on windows 7 won't function after boot

The keyboard on my Lenovo IdeaPad S510p touch won't respond after windows boots up. The brightness keys and the key that turns on/off the screen work but nothing else responds. I tried using an external keyboard but it didn't work either. I've reinstalled and updated the drivers for both keyboards several times to no avail.
