Corsair H1500 Headset doesn't work correctly with official software installed
My Corsair H1500 works without its software, but I got bored and decided to see if the software, which I downloaded straight from Corsair's website, would increase the sound quality. This made my headset basically unusable for two reasons:
-
There is/was grey noise in the background that only goes away if the headset is completely muted. Disabling the headset under Playback devices does nothing to stop the noise. I partially fixed this by disabling the mic and "line" by muting them from the Levels tab within Speaker Properties, but issue 2 makes this an invalid solution because when I unplug the headset and then plug it back in it unmutes everything. Plus, the grey noise is still there, it's just less severe.

Adjusting the volume too much or too quickly, including muting or unmuting (which means that by attempting the workaround to issue 1 I'm effectively doomed to run into this unless I get lucky) will make the volume/mic controller on the cord turn solid purple. It's normally either solid blue or alternates between blue and red, flashing once per half second or so to indicate that the mic is turned off. While the light is purple, it simply doesn't work and I have to unplug it and then plug it back in to make it work again. The only time I see the controller light up purple otherwise is when my computer is booting, but it functions without issue once the computer is done booting in that case.
I can fix this by removing the software, but I want the surround sound features that the software provides.
There is also an issue unrelated to the software that I can't figure out. The headset's volume basically ranges between 1 and 2; 2 is if I need something to be quite loud, and 1 is medium-high volume.
