Steam games have no sound after updating.

After updating windows, Steam games no longer have sound. I only have 2 on this computer, Blitzkreig Anthology and Medieval 2 Total War. (They were working fine before)

When I load Blitz it runs like normal and cutscenes have sound but the game itself has no sound.

When I load Medieval 2, instead of going to full screen like normal on start up, it goes into a windowed version and this error message pops up. Like blitz the game is running perfectly fine except it's windowed and has no sound. When I exit the game this error message pops up. I restarted steam and tried to open the games again, and the same things happened.

Tried verifying game caches on both, nothing wrong, restarting PC, updating drivers (Graphics, Display, Audio/Sound) all to no anvil. I presume the next step is uninstalling/reinstalling the games and if that doesn't work, uninstalling/reinstalling steam.

I've googled the Medieval 2 problem and it seems there are a lot similar stories but I have yet to find one with a solution.

Where can i download the updated driver? Can't delete .ttf files.

The files names are, "gtaweap3.ttf" and "sampaux3.ttf". I have tried some other solutions on google and stuff but none of them are working. I've gone into the registry and none of that worked and went into the fonts folder and unticked "Details pane", but none works. When I try deleting the files it says the file is open in system.
