When I connect laptop to TV through HDMI, the sound plays through laptop?

I have seen some posts on this, however there isn't a clear answer. I've tried to select HDMI through playback settings but that doesn't work

I've also tried updating the drivers and changing the HDMI cable.

Any help please?

Edit: I should also mention that the video comes through, just not sound
