Microsoft Word weird missing/broken letters?

Hi there! I've had this weird problem with Microsoft Word (2016) on my Windows 10 PC. I think the easiest way to show you is with screenshots: http://ift.tt/2yfPKNH

Even menu items are subject to it, it's very strange. Running word in safe mode doesn't seem to change anything. And it's not consistent at all, it pops up and goes away seemingly at random. Any advice would be gratefully received!
