Did I just expose myself with my iPhone email app?

I have an older model iPhone for a backup/work phone, and when I logged into my email on the email app it made me go into my email, and “enable not secure apps”. I did it, because I trusted Apple with my information as most people would. Now fast forward a day I get this weird email that’s obviously someone trying to catfish me. I never usually get spam not counting ads from big companies like Walmart. Was there a huge security flaw in the older iPhone email app that I just screwed myself over with or am I just being paranoid?
