My laptop doesn't have a button to turn off the screen. How can I assign one?

My old laptop had a bunch of keyboard keys that did things like mute speakers, close current window, and make the screen go black.

My new Surface doesn't have a button for simply turning the screen off (and nothing else).

How can I assign one?

I've tried the nrcmd utility, which doesn't work for some reason.

I've tried flipping CsEnabled from 0 to 1, which sucks because closing the lid now makes it hibernate, which I don't want.

I'm not really looking for a solution that requires loads of keystrokes or wait times, either. I just want to turn the screen on and off with a click.

How can I do this? Thanks!
